Our Fashion Camp during this Mid-Winter Break is going be like no other, in fact we are calling it Fashion Community Camp!
This year FLNY campers will explore what community is and what communities they are a part of. Inspired by the Albright-Knox’s spring exhibition, Comunidades Visibles: The Materiality of Migration, campers will design, create and sew their very own Community Flag.
We will visit the Albright Knox Gallery during the week so campers can tour the exhibition, learn about the artists showcased and view their work. Then campers will experiment with different textile art practices to sew and embellish their own community flag. You will create additional small sewing projects throughout the week that reflect the theme.
**Due to Covid19 we are limiting camp to only 6 campers. Our small camp size will allow us to keep each camper safe and give them the attention and tools they need to design and sew. We must have 6 campers to hold the camp so please sign up early!
No Sewing Experience Necessary! We will teach you what you need to know!
Sewing machines and tools are provided by FASHION LAB NY. Campers will be responsible for purchasing a materials kit which includes fabric. They will also bring a lunch, snack and drink everyday.
