Adult Beginner: Learn to Sew Wearable Lab: Spring 2020

Let us teach you the basics of sewing in 6 weeks!

Learn to Sew and Make several wearable items in the process! In this Beginner Sewing Lab you will finish three essential projects during 6 weekly sessions, including: Reversible Hobo Sling Bag, Lounge Pants and a Bonus Project.

Only 4 students per class. Two Sessions to choose from for Spring!

Session 1: Mondays, April 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, June 1

Session 2: Wednesdays, April 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27

6:30p – 9:00p


Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn are how to use a sewing machine, the concept of seam allowance and how to sew to a particular seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves. In the Lounge Pant class you will learn how to create a gathered waist. Other skills taught depending on group.

Skills expected: No Experience Needed.

Materials needed: Fabric needs to be purchased for this class.

Reversible Hobo Bag: 2.5 yards of pre-washed fabric such as solid or print woven cotton. If you’d like the bag to be two different prints or solid/print you will need 1.25 yards of each.

Essential Lounge Pant: 3 yards of pre-washed fabric such as solid or print woven cotton or flannel.

Bonus Project: Fabric and yardage to be decided depending on project and time.

***Nothing “stretchy” which means NO Knits. Also please avoid anything silky, slippery, or heavyweight

Materials provided: sewing patterns and instructions, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, zipper and an iron.

Ages 16 and up are welcome to take this class.
